Vistaplan Arand purchased their powder coating oven from Airflow who are one of the UK's leading manufacturers of industrial ovens.
When the item to be powder coated is heated in the oven the powder film will first melt and flow then bond to the substrate being powder coated. Further heating "cures" the powder. Curing involves a chemical reaction called "cross linking" and the resultant "cured" coating will not, like the original powder, melt or dissolve in solvents - it forms the desired protective coating.
Below is a photograph of the oven used by Vistaplan Arand and at the bottom of the page a cut-away drwaing showing the components and features of the oven.
